Keiry splits her time between Martinborough and Wellington and is a long time supporter of the New Zealand wool industry. She has been knitting since childhood, acquiring yarn and woolly know-how along the way. True to her name as The Kindly Dyer she dyes yarns in small quantities only, and as time permits. That is the best way to keep her promise to be kind to the environment, and also by using plant materials in-season, using and disposing of water carefully.

Keiry has an association with Palliser Ridge farm and will also offer some of their woollen products on her stall.

The Kindly Dyer will be trading on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Check the programme too as Keiry will be presenting a bundle dyeing demonstration.

Patrizia is based in Tinui on Rewa Rewa Station. Her passion for natural fibre has led to the creation of a coloured sheep flock numbering at around 50 sheep, and comprised of Romney X Corriedale, Polwarth and Gotland Pelts. To create new fibre sources, and interest, Cashmere goats and Alpacas were added to the menagerie. These fibres can be purchased individually, or as blends with wool.

Spinning, knitting, felting, carding, natural dyeing and weaving are all part of Patrizia’s crafting wheelhouse. To compliment her range, you can also purchase our professionally produced Romney yarn for knitters. The Romney fibre was shorn from the Rewa Rewa Station Romney flock then sent for processing. Provenance and Traceability are the cornerstones of Patrizia’s fibre business model, and why all the fibre producing animals have an individual identification number.

Recently Patrizia also took the exciting step of opening her very own mill.

Rosemarie lives on a three-acre lifestyle block in the Wairarapa and began her natural yarn dyeing journey in 2020. Having horticultural training meant that she had the knowledge to collect dye plants, develop dye gardens and also recognise opportunities for foraging. Rosemarie describes natural dyeing as like magic and is constantly amazed at the range of colours available to her through nature.

It may take many hundreds of flowers to have enough for a sweater quantity. She grows the flowers, harvests the flowers, dries the flowers and then when she has enough for a dye pot, she dyes the yarn. This means that what is for sale is strictly limited, so get in fast if you want multiple skeins of a single colour.

Rose Spud Yarns will be trading on Friday and Sunday.

Check the programme as Rosemarie is also teaching a workshop on natural dyeing.

Based in Ōtepoti, Dunedin, Morag has been dyeing, designing and serving the knit community for 16 years. Her Vintage Purls label specialises in finer weight yarns including Tannahill which she hand-dyes. Tannahill is 100% New Zealand merino, milled in Aotearoa and is named after the farm in Scotland her great, great, great, grandmother departed from. Agnes Dickie was 21 when her family set sail for New Zealand in December of 1862. She stepped off the “Arima” at Port Chalmers Dunedin on the 19th of March 1863. The colours of Tannahill speak of her life both in Scotland and here in Aotearoa.

Vintage Purls will be trading on Friday and Saturday.

Morag is also the creator of the South Island's premier fribrecraft event ...Unwind Retreat.

Ruth and Joy are a mother and daughter duo based in the Wellington region. Both are passionate knitters, crocheteuse, sewists, and embroiderers who are fans of the funky and traditional alike. If there’s a way to make it with fibres, you can be sure they’ve tried it. They are, quite simply, two people who adore both making and helping others to make.
